Employees at Made in Yorkshire member, Leggett & Platt have given up their time to raise money for the Bluebell Wood Children’s Hospice, raising over £750 for the charity in the process.

Organised by Production Manager John Sorsby, the event was held at the Monkwood Pub in Rotherham, on the 30th of November, 2019. During the day-long event, the staff, who all gave up their time for free, hosted several activities including a raffle, quiz, an auction as well as collecting money via collection tins from those attending.

During the event, organiser John Sorsby, even provided the entertainment, with his band, ‘Bedroom Radiator,’ which includes his daughter, Becky, Karl Ruston, and Mick Fell. Later on in the event, a local band, ‘Lucky Town’ took to the stage in an ‘open band’ approach where any of the guests could join in.

Speaking about the event, the Managing Director of Leggett & Platt, Mike Holmes, said, “We are so proud of all the generous time donated by our employees to assist with this fundraiser, and take pride in giving back to those within the community.”

It is the third time John, and friends have done this, and the money was split between two local charities – HYPS, which take in abandoned dogs, and unlike some other sanctuaries, never put a healthy dog down, irrespective of their issues. The other charity is Bluebell Wood children’s hospice. With the generosity of people donating raffle prizes, and buying tickets, they managed to raise £860, which is £230 higher than the previous best. The company then donated the rest to make up the totals.
